Phiên bản tiếng Trung của trò chơi này được đặt tên PopKart. Phiên bản close beta tiếng Anh (KartRider) bắt đầu tại Mỹ vào ngày 1 tháng 5 năm 2007 và kết thúc vào 31 tháng 5 năm 2007. Sự kiện open beta bắt đầu vào 2 tháng 10 năm 2007 và kết thúc vào 19 tháng 3 năm 2008. Phiên bản tiếng Anh hiện tại của KartRider đang bị dừng vô thời hạn, và chưa có phiên bản chính thức nào ra mắt. Hơn nữa, không có thông tin nào vè ngày phát hành được Nexon America cung cấp.

Ngày 9 tháng 9 năm 2009 KartRider đã xuất hiện ở giai đoạn Close Beta tại Việt Nam với tên BoomSpeed do VTC Game phân phối.^[3]

You play as one of the cute cartoon creatures available as drivers and sit in a kart that you have to control as you zip at super high speeds through the many tracks that the game offers.

If you rarely play video games, don't worry, as Kart Rider is a relatively easy game to play. There are hundreds of PC racing games out there, many of them boasting exceptional realism and stunning graphics that make the game feel like you were actually on a race track. Kart Rider isn't part of that category. It places fun ahead of realism and has a 'classic game' look to it, similar to what you would see in games for the original PlayStation console.

The game's controls are very simple, so you won't need more than a practice round or two to figure out how to control your little cart like a pro. The game was designed with a younger audience in mind, so you can expect the kart's handling to be quite forgiving around turns. Unlike other racing games, taking a curve a bit too fast or turning too late won't send you crashing into a wall at full speed.
